Who they are
The people who
pull you back.
The Hawaiian Lifeguard Association is the backbone of ocean safety across the islands. Their mission is simple and relentless: advance the professionalism of Hawai'i's lifeguards and drive down drownings and water injuries wherever the water gets dangerous.
That work runs deep. HLA sets the professional standard for surf and open-water rescue, serves as the state's leading voice on water-safety education, and funds the Statewide Junior Lifeguard Program: curriculum, training, gear, and travel for the next generation learning to read the ocean and save lives.
