Let's Meet: The FUZZ Bomb!
Is it just us, or does seeing a new Bomber frame style feel like waking up on Christmas morning? Any time we get to unveil our latest and greatest, we get so excited we do an extremely silly little dance in HQ.
And this design has us feeling especially warm and fuzzy (sorry) because it comes with a piece of Bomber history!
The FUZZ Bomb, our newest offering and the BUZZ Bomb's quieter, chiller cousin, is officially on the shelves -- and we couldn't be more excited to share it with you.
We snagged some time with Tommy and Jamerien to talk about this new style -- and get the inside scoop on the design process.
1. What inspired the design of the FUZZ Bomb?
TOMMY BONACCI: Well, there's the fun part of this story and the... less fun part of this story, right?
JAMERIEN BONACCI: You've gotta love manufacturing!
TOMMY: Shortly after the BUZZ Bomb officially bumped the BOOGIE Bomb out of the "most popular Bomber frame ever" championship slot, we ran into a problem -- a BIG problem.
JAMERIEN: Something in our manufacturing process went wrong in a batch of BUZZ Bombs, and our community let us know there was a major defect happening with the side shields.
TOMMY: The absolute last thing we want is for your gear to break down on you, so we got to work right away on fixing the BUZZ manufacturing issue. But we didn't want to leave you hanging in the meantime!
JAMERIEN: Exactly! So we returned to the drawing board with an idea for a new-and-improved BUZZ... but we liked this new style we came up with so much that we decided to launch it as its own frame!
TOMMY: Think of it like Bomber's big Frankenstein project... we set out to fix the BUZZ Bomb, but along the way, created a whole new monster. A cool one, though.
2. Where does the name come from?
JAMERIEN: Aww, now we get to talk about Fuzzy.
TOMMY: I love this part of the story. Way back when, when Bomber was just a sparkle in our eye, we met an amazing rider named Kolaiah "Fuzzy" Jardine. And as soon as we had the opportunity, Fuzzy became our very first sponsored rider!
JAMERIEN: Back then, we created a FUZZ Bomb in honor of Fuzzy, but our design process was still in its infancy, so we ended up discontinuing that style a while back. But Fuzzy has stayed such a good friend of ours--
TOMMY: Basically family!
JAMERIEN: --that we knew we wanted to bring back the name. Basically, we put a new spin on a classic style, and gave a classic friend a new frame to celebrate!
3. Why do you think people like the FUZZ Bomb so much?
TOMMY: Again, anytime you all ask for something, we listen. That's part of why the FUZZ Bomb has been so popular: You let us know about an issue with the BUZZ Bomb, and in working to make things right, we discovered this gorgeous frame.
JAMERIEN: It's also just really comfortable. The nylon material makes it super comfy--or fuzzy, if you want to think about it that way--and it's an easier fit for larger-sized faces as well. We also made sure the side shields are easier to take off and put back on. Your feedback so far has been amazing--we love hearing what you love about the frames, as well as what you'd want us to tweak in the next launch.
TOMMY: Plus, the FUZZ Bomb's lens shape is a little more rounded and less squared-off than the BUZZ. This look is really popular right now, and it's rounded edges are something you've all been asking for.
JAMERIEN: It's basically the BUZZ Bomb's chill cousin... and we couldn't be happier with how much you love them!
4. Any other fun facts to share about the FUZZ Bomb?
JAMERIEN: This part's kind of funny, but we never intended to make the FUZZ Bomb into a frame style of its own.
TOMMY: She's right--our plan was to roll out the FUZZ as a temporary style while we worked on fixing the BUZZ Bombs. But then, y'all went crazy for the style and we decided to keep it!
JAMERIEN: We had no idea how much people would like them, and now it looks like they're here to stay!
