The welding community blends art, expertise, strength, and a healthy dash of danger into a skill set that often goes unnoticed or misunderstood. Welding, a fabrication process that involves melting and connecting metals or other materials at extreme high temperatures, can be completed with gas flame, electron beam, lasers, and more.
For the more than 400,000 people in the United States work as welders, the most common danger is eye injury. In fact, welding-related eye injuries account for nearly 6% of all workplace-related eye injuries in construction!
With that in mind, we at Bomber Eyewear know how critical it is to invest in quality eye protection for welders.
This week, we checked in with Matt and Austin, two experts from the welding industry who know what it's like to work in such a fast-paced industry--and what it's like to come close to disaster themselves.
Bomber HQ: What first drew you to the welding career?
Austin Hargett, @dr.weldz: I first found welding back in high school. It honestly sounded like a blow off class that allowed me to play with fire. They also allowed me to build any project I wanted and then sell it at the end of the year. So I thought, "Hey, I can play with fire, and make some money at the end of the year?" Sounded like a win. Little did I know I was going to love it!
Matt Reed, @lucky_weldz: What drew me to welding was pure luck. I'd always known about welding after growing up on a farm in Virginia. In high school I signed up for a welding class. Later on, I received a phone call from someone who needed welders, took the job, and fell in love with welding.
What's your proudest accomplishment in your welding career?
Matt Reed: My proudest accomplishment has been landing my first job with a specialty welding company.
Austin Hargett: I've helped build pipelines, power plants, massive pressure vessels and pressure piping that helps run this country. I'm also proud of a few of my art projects I've built that are one-of-a-kind. All those sound like amazing feats, but there's nothing I'm proud of more than the thousands of students I've had the pleasure of teaching and continue to teach on my YouTube channel. I'm proud of the people I've inspired, entertained, and educated over the years--hopefully it sticks with a few people and changes their lives, like it changed mine.
What's something people don't know about welding that you wish more people understood?
Matt Reed: There are all different levels to welding.
Austin Hargett: It takes practice and discipline to learn this craft. Find a way that works for you. Schools and apprenticeships are a great way to start, but YOU have to put in the hours.
Matt Reed: Not all welders work on the same level! It takes time and effort to work your way up in skill and pay.
What's your "closest shave" in your welding experience?
Austin Hargett: Near misses are a blessing and a reminder of what can happen. I've seen death on a job site. I've seen people fall out from heat exhaustion, seen people fall and break limbs, and seen objects fall that could seriously injure myself and others.
Matt Reed: My closest shave is why I have the nickname "Lucky." I was on a job site and almost had a steel beam drop on me. It landed a couple foot steps away.
Austin Hargett: Be your brothers' and sisters' keeper. Watch for things that can hurt you or your co-workers. Y'all are the front line and safety starts with you.
How did you find out about Bomber Eyewear?
Matt Reed: I first found Bomber Eyewear on Instagram.
Austin Reed: My good friend Matt Reed sent me a pair as a gift after I saw them on Instagram. He's such a good friend. After rocking 'em for a summer I was hooked!
How do your Bombers help you get the job done?
Austin Hargett: Probably the most common injuries on a job site have to do with the eyes. As someone who's had metal picked and drilled out of their eye, I'm a spokesperson for safety eyewear. Bombers help with full protection around the eyes--you don't need to squint with Bombers.
Matt Reed: They protect my eyes, don't give me a headache, and I look good in them--and they don't fog up.
Austin Hargett: The anti-fog lenses are a blessing under the hood!
What's your favorite thing about your Bombers?
Matt Reed: It's hard to pick a favorite. There are so many!
Austin Hargett: I love the versatility and design styles to choose from. There are so many designs and price ranges for anyone and everyone. They also make safeties that don't look dorky--I rock them outside of work, too.
Matt Reed: I wear them in my everyday life including going to the beach, welding in my shop, skating, and hanging out with family. It's great to be able to use Bomber in every aspect of my life.
Austin Hargett: I spend a lot of time on the water, fishing and surfing. Polarized safety glasses are awesome for working outside during the week, then wetting a line or carving a wave on the weekends. I never worry about my Bombers falling in the water because, by God, they FLOAT! I've spent a lot of money on glasses that now sit on the bottom of lakes and rivers, so that's a huge bonus for me.
What would you tell a friend or colleague considering Bomber Eyewear for welding safety?
Austin Hargett: Pick your poison! They got what you want, they got what you need, get one for every day of the week!
Matt Reed: You should make the swap immediately because Bomber is really all you need. Plus, they float!
Austin Hargett: What's to consider?! Plus, knowing the Bomber team and the story of how they came to be who they are makes me love them even more. They know what blue collar men and women need because those are their own roots. They are an absolute delight to talk with and the customer support is always there when you need it. Not to mention they are freaking RAD!
Okay, okay, we're blushing! Thank you so much to Matt and Austin for sharing your Bomber journeys with us.
We're always delighted to make connections with our community--and we hope welders around the world know you have us in your corner! To learn more about our ANSI Z87+ rated safety glasses, check out the Safety section by clicking here.

Today we're breaking down a simple question: Do you really need side shields on safety glasses?
Side shields are add-ons to traditional-framed safety glasses. Inspired by the wraparound coverage of goggles, removable side shields create a pair of versatile safety glasses. Pop 'em in when the wood chips are a-flyin', take 'em off when you're done for the day and just want to hang out at the beach.
Some side shields, like the add-on side shields for the GOMER Bomb, turn a regular pair of sunglasses into ANSI Z87+ rated safety glasses. The extra coverage offers that extra degree of protection for your eyes.
Short answer: Yes! But it depends on what you'll be doing.
For example, someone who is painting their house doesn't need the same level of protection as someone sending wood shrapnel flying while using a saw.
Side shields can also be a matter of convenience. Many people who enjoy water sports or boating prefer "regular" sunglasses without the shields to keep glasses lightweight and versatile. But when the water gets choppy or you hit Mach speed on your jet ski, side shields add an extra layer between your eyes and the sea spray, making it possible to let loose your inner Chuck Yeager without losing your vision.
(Side note: Please do not hit Mach speed on a jet ski. Yes, Tommy, that includes you.)
Most of Bomber Eyewear's side shields are designed to be removable. To remove the side shields, look for a raised tab where the shield meets the frame. It's usually closer to the lenses than the legs. Press the tab in while gently pulling the shield down with your other hand until the shield detaches from the frame.
To pop 'em back in, simply... well, pop 'em back in! Line up the connection edge of the shield with the correct spot on your frame and slide it back into place. You might feel or hear a soft click when the tab lock re-engages.
We're planning to introduce new styles with side shields in the future, along with add-on shields like the GOMER's. At the moment, five of our most popular frame styles are available with side shields:
When you're ready to find your new favorite pair of safety glasses, check out our full Safety range here. Or, grab a few new styles and try 'em all in our Sale section.
]]>Yeah, we're raising our hands, too.
2023's been another wild ride, y'all. We couldn't be more thankful for the support and community you have given us this year.
Can you believe we're approaching 30 years of Bomber Eyewear? Each year that goes by reminds us why we do what we do. We meet so many new and wonderful people, we work with so many fantastic organizations, and we build our community one pair of glasses at a time.
Call us cheesy, but we're so endlessly grateful for YOU. As the end of the year approaches, we're putting on our thinking caps and setting our sights on 2024. Stay tuned for new and exciting frames, lenses, and more coming in the new year.
On a more somber note, we want to bring attention once again to the Maui wildfires. Hawaii is a place near and dear to our hearts. We try to infuse the spirit of the islands in everything we do here at Bomber Eyewear.
It's been indescribably hard to see the destruction of so many sacred and beautiful places, let alone to face the loss of friends and loved ones. And once again, we're blown away by the community support that's rolled out for Maui from the other islands, the US, and around the world.
To share a little holiday miracle: on November 30th, 2023, the EPA announced the completion of its project to remove hazardous materials from Lahaina, Kula, and Olinda, the areas hardest hit by the wildfires. We hope that 2024 brings even more progress for Maui.
As we head into the giving season, we encourage you (if you haven't already) to donate to Maui restoration efforts. Here are a few Hawaiian charities supporting the Maui Wildfires victims:
Our team has donated time, safety gear, and funds to help Maui rebuild, but it's going to be a long journey. Any resources we can send to the island--and any attention we can bring to the restoration efforts--will go a long way toward rebuilding.
But one thing that will never disappear on Maui is its sense of community. We hope the same for everyone here at Bomber.
As time goes by, we're inspired again and again by how much has grown out of a simple idea to create more comfortable sunglasses. We're honored that you've chosen to come along on our journey, and we can't wait to see what twists and turns 2024 will bring us.
Life's a rollercoaster, but we've got our hands up and we're enjoying the ride.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones, from all of us at Bomber HQ.
Love,
Tommy, Jamerien, and the Bomber Eyewear family
This has become even more true for us in the wake of the Maui wildfires. This unspeakable tragedy took away so many lives, destroyed so much history, and damaged so many places that native Hawaiians consider sacred.
If there's one thing we've learned over the last few years, it's that amazing things can happen when we all support each other. After the Maui wildfires, our local Hawaiian teams jumped into action, joining volunteer organizations around the island to offer support. From California, we arranged supplies and sent out canopy tents, large coverage umbrellas, and over 1,000 pairs of safety & sunglasses for people risking their personal safety -- and in many cases, their lives -- in the aftermath. Here's a quick clip of that Maui mission originally posted by Wally himself.
If you're not familiar yet with the devastation in Maui, we encourage you to look into local resources to offer your support for survivors and relief efforts. Even now, two full months after the fires swept the island, people from organizations like Truth Excavation are still donning full hazmat gear to clear out toxic materials left behind in the "hot zone." The destruction on Maui will take a very long time to rebuild from, and the emotional and cultural recovery will take even longer.
We've struggled with this here at Bomber HQ. Part of the reason we've always felt so drawn to Hawaii is its reputation as "the Aloha State," a place where kindness, unity, and patience come together to create a one-of-a-kind environment.
In fact, we named our ALOHA Series after this idea: not just the word, but the genuine spirit behind it. We wanted to find a way to create a little more community with our sunglasses, and our ALOHA Series accomplishes that mission by honoring Hawaiian culture in its frames and by uniting people who understand the true meaning of the word. (In fact, several of the safety glasses we sent to Maui were from the ALOHA Series. We wanted to give people a reminder of the place they love, and send a little bit of ourselves with our well-wishes to recovery workers.)
So what exactly is "aloha"? Sure, many of us know "aloha" as a traditional Hawaiian greeting, one that can be used to say "goodbye" as well as "hello." But do you know its historical and cultural significance?
In the name of positivity, we wanted to take some time today to talk about aloha. In times like these, it's more critical than ever to treat everyone around you with kindness and understanding -- and to always, always put a little more aloha in your life.
The Hawaiian word "aloha" can be traced back to the early 1800s. It's made up of the Proto-Polynesian words "Alo," which means "presence," and "Hā," or "breath." When you put that together, the direct translation of aloha becomes the presence of breath. Another way to think of it is the presence of life -- after all, we can't survive without breath, right?
Aloha is more than just a simple greeting or goodbye. The word contains endless spirituality.
There is a traditional greeting in Hawaii that comes from sharing breath, or Hā. Two people stand close, pressing their foreheads and noses together, and inhale at the same time. This is an exchange of breath -- or, in other words, the exchange of life. In ancient Hawaiian culture, our breath is a source of spiritual power, called mana.
The rest of the word comes together when you look at it as an acronym:
When you combine these words, you begin to understand the true spirit of Aloha: love, peace, mutual understanding, empathy, and respect. Wild how so much can be contained in one simple word, isn't it?
In the simplest terms? Just be kind. Look out for each other.
One of our favorite things about the Bomber Eyewear community -- let's be real, it's probably our favorite thing -- is just how dang nice you all are. We love seeing how supportive you are, not just of us and our products but of each other. It warms our hearts to see someone post a totally rad surfing video that just so happens to include our gear, and see the comments flooded with supportive, excited notes from people around the world. That's just really freakin' cool.
You don't have to be native Hawaiian to live and treat others with more aloha. Just let your heart speak the way it wants to, and share those moments of kindness, perseverance, and mutual understanding with the people around you.
If you're looking for a daily reminder of your own sense of aloha, we recommend our ALOHA Series for exactly that reason. The designs on this frame collection, available across many of our most popular styles, give us that little visual cue we need day by day to remember who we are and where we come from.
Wherever the rest of your summer takes you, we hope you find your aloha every step of the way.
]]>But what exactly does it mean to wear safety glasses? And if they're so important, why don't we wear them 24 hours a day? (Pro tip: Bomber safety gear looks so good you could totally wear them around the clock... the shades might be a little dark at night, but you do you.)
In this blog, we're breaking down the basics of eyewear safety: 5 things you need to know about when to wear your safety gear.
When you hear the term "ANSI Z87+ rated safety glasses," what's your first thought? Many people think of a construction site, workshop, or an auto repair shop. Safety glasses are a critical part of any job site uniform, whether you're grabbing indoor-only gear or a pair of high-class sunglasses for outdoor work. It's important to remember that safety glasses aren't limited to times when you grab a power tool -- safety glasses should always be worn on the job site to protect from flying debris and other sudden risks.
Household injuries don't just happen in the garage. We can't count the number of stories we've heard of lead-based paint chips, asbestos particles, and other indoor detritus flinging into somebody's eyes -- or worse, causing permanent damage.
In a similar vein, one of the most-forgotten risks to our permanent vision is the wind. Harsh wind, especially in high-energy situations, can be linked to things like macular degeneration and chronic dry eye. These may not sound "that bad" on the surface, but poor eye protection is a major cause of rapid vision loss. And think about it -- do you really want salt spray, smoke, or that one toddler's sneeze-germs heading into your eyes? We didn't think so.
If there's even a chance that your eyes are at risk, you should be wearing safety glasses. Hiking, hitting the beach, running around the park with your dog and a few pointy sticks, you name it. Safety glasses do more than protect just the eyes, as well -- we've heard stories from real customers describing the way a pair of glasses deflected a power tool headed straight for somebody's eye socket. No matter what you'll be working on, don't be That Guy who tries something without eye protection and pays the price.
Finally, we've got one more culprit to shake our fists at: the sun! As much as we love those summer rays, our eyes don't like 'em quite as much. UV radiation from any source -- but most often, natural sunlight -- can damage every part of the eye, not just your retinas. Things like cataracts, painful vision-impairing growths, and even certain types of cancer can all be traced to over-exposure to UV radiation. Safety sunglasses should be certified to block both UVA and UVB light (like ours do!). There are also options like blue light glasses and clear or gently-tinted lenses that block UV light without impacting your vision.
Whether you're an experienced welder hanging upside down from a bridge (we've seen it) or a home DIY'er trying out a circular saw for the first time, it's time to grab a pair of safety glasses.
Bomber Eyewear's ANSI Z87+ safety glasses run the gamut from standard clear or yellow-lensed eye protection, to dual-action safety glasses and sunglasses, to our fancy-pants options with removable side shields that block wind and debris.
No matter which of our ANSI Z87+ safety certified styles you choose from, feel confident wearing your Bomber safety gear anywhere -- and everywhere -- you go!
]]>Which brings us to today's question... Why wear boring ol' safety glasses, when you can wear BOMBER?!
Sure, there are cheaper options out on the market, but we all know how uncomfortable and unpredictable those 20-pack hunks of plastic can be. There's nothing worse than gear that fogs up at exactly the wrong moment, or fits so poorly it slides off your nose on a hot, sweaty workday.
That's why we invented... well, everything we invented!
At Bomber Eyewear, we believe that EVERYONE deserves to FEEL GOOD and LOOK GOOD while investing in the best-of-the-best in eye protection.
When you're on the job, what you're wearing has more of an impact than you may realize. When our founder Tommy Bonacci worked on job sites, he noticed a large number of teammates who grumbled about wearing safety glasses -- or worse, skipped wearing them altogether -- because they were uncomfortable, or because they felt like the cheap gear made them look silly.
With Bomber gear, you don't have to sacrifice style for safety. We reimagine classic sunglasses frames and cutting-edge fashions to create safety glasses that check every box.
Did we mention the Bomber lab? Each of our safety glass designs goes through extensive rounds of R&D. Furthermore, we're constantly refining and improving our lens coatings. We didn't feel like ANSI Z87+ safety certification was "enough," so we figured out how to bring in antifog, photochromic, and mirrored lenses.
Plus, if you've heard one thing about us here at Bomber, it's probably the term "floating sunglasses." Most of our styles come with our patented foam lining, which -- you guessed it right! -- makes our gear float in water. But more importantly on the work site, this foam lining makes our safety glasses more comfortable than just about anything on the market. The lining creates an extra layer of security between your eyes and any flying debris or sparks -- and it guarantees a secure, comfortable fit that won't leave you with headaches (unlike all that cheap poking plastic from the 90s 👀).
We don't just believe in our products -- our community does, too! We have one of the awesomest, chillest, most bad*ss communities on the planet, and we're constantly in contact with Bomber fans to see what you think of the latest drops, or what you're interested in seeing next.
By working with our community, we're guaranteeing we have the best and highest-quality offerings out there -- don't just take our word for, take the thousands upon thousands of reviews on our most popular frames!
Convinced, yet? We sure convinced ourselves. When you're ready to give Bomber Eyewear a try for yourself, check out our BEST SELLERS for some of our longtime favorites. Or if you're not sure where to start, grab a few (dozen) pairs from our SALE section -- find out what you like, and come back again and again for your new favorite sunglasses and safety glasses!
]]>Summer's on its way and we're feeling hotter than ever -- which means the pressure's on! You could say every week is Safety Week at Bomber Eyewear, but we're paying special attention to team trainings this summer.
Give your team a leg up on workplace safety (and just, like, generally not getting injured) with us! Pro tip: If you're looking for more hands-on experience for your team, we're booking in-person Safety Week training sessions with our founder, Tommy Bonacci, all year round. These sessions include general safety lessons and best practices, as well as a comprehensive focus on eye safety. Send us an email and we'll see what we can do!
In the meantime, let's break down Safety Week and why it's something to add to your team's roster, like, yesterday!
Way back in 2014, a group of more than 40 national and global construction firms created the Construction Industry Safety Initiative and the Incident and Injury Free CEO Forum. Together, leaders from this group organized the first official Construction Safety Week, a dedicated time to educate and empower team members on job sites around the world.
An amazing thing about Safety Week is that we don't just seek to remind people about boring procedural stuff during this time... Instead, Safety Week is all about promoting a unified culture of empowerment, recognition, and action when it comes to potential risks.
According to the folks behind Construction Safety Week, "Safety Week is a show of force, an opportunity for people, companies, and even competitors, to work together and celebrate the incredibly hard work by people in our industry who make safety the foundation of everything they do."
The OG Construction Safety Week focuses on four pillars: empowerment, recognition, partnership, and impact. Let's go through these pillars step by step, along with some ways to promote each pillar during your team's safety week.
EMPOWERMENT: Focus on education, not just so everyone "knows the rules," but so that anyone on the job site who recognizes a potential safety risk has the confidence and empowerment to step in, speak up, and keep everyone on the job site -- including themselves -- safe.
How to focus on EMPOWERMENT:
RECOGNITION: Make sure each and every team member recognizes the signs of a potential safety issue and knows how to respond when something happens. Recognition is all about teamwork, and knowing that you have each other's backs.
How to focus on RECOGNITION:
PARTNERSHIP: Partnership goes beyond being a "team player" and leans into communication, leadership, and support. This is the "people" part of Safety Week, where how to keep an eye not only on our job sites, but on our friends on duty. This pillar is all about staying alert, focused, and supported, no matter what you're working on.
How to focus on PARTNERSHIP:
IMPACT: Finally, let's talk about impact. The concept of impact plays into that culture we mentioned earlier, the growing culture of education and empowerment on safe job sites. It's all fine and dandy to run through a week of safety and security trainings, but this pillar makes time for future opportunities: how to make every week Safety Week, for everyone on your team.
How to focus on IMPACT:
Would we be Bomber if we didn't plug our shades at the end? We've learned so much over the years, but especially that you can't skimp on eye safety. Our ANSI Z87+ safety-rated work gear, from sunglasses to safety glasses to glasses that pull double duty, is designed for PROTECTION FIRST.
We're here for you, and we want to make sure everyone on your team has the gear, know-how, and confidence to make every job site a safe one. Get in touch with us to talk about team-wide discounts for orders of 25 frames or more -- and get Tommy on site with you for in-person Safety Week trainings!
]]>We can get pretty silly here, but we just got an intense reminder of why we do what we do. Bomber Eyewear is an eye-PROTECTION team first, and that's never been more true than for Brian Messenger and his wife Jessica.
Back in February, Jessica and Brian were out on the dunes in Glamis, California, when they stopped for a routine check of their dune buggies. Brian leaned down to refill the buggy's tires, and out of nowhere the tire's bead lock rim detached from its welds and exploded into Brian's face, blasting scraps of metal and plastic into his eyes and the entire right side of his face -- at a force of 20.3 psi!
Brian had life-threatening injuries and needed to be airlifted out of the dunes, but ever since the accident he and Jessica have pointed to one small miracle.
If Brian hadn't been wearing his PIPE Bombs, there's an extreme chance he could have lost his right eye -- or worse.
"First I would like to thank you guys for designing a pair of safety sunglasses that ultimately saved his eye and possibly his life!" Jessica told us in an Instagram DM. "It's hard to think what could have happened, had he not been wearing his glasses."
According to Jessica, the craziest part is that Brian's PIPE Bombs were found about 50 feet away from the explosion... "There's not ONE SINGLE scratch or crack on the glasses!!!" she said. "EVERYONE is amazed that he still has his eye and we've credited Bomber Eyewear for that blessing."
Jessica and Brian have kept the pair of wonder-shades as a "show piece," sharing with others how critically important it is to wear eye protection on and off the job.
"We haven't cleaned the sand off yet," Jessica said. "To show the real deal."
Check out the full story on our Instagram here. Full warning, some of the pics of Brian's recovery get pretty gnarly. We are so glad that Brian is okay and that we were able to play some small part in his recovery!
At Jessica's request, we're sharing the Messengers' story with the world as an extremely important PSA -- the two seconds it takes to slip on a pair of shades might just save your eye someday, and possibly save your life!
Y'all, we're still pretty shaken up -- but we are so proud to do what we do. Huge mahalo to Jessica and Brian, and we wish Brian the speediest recovery on earth!

Joey is a competitive athlete in addition to his work as a self-described "water-person."
"Growing up here in Hawaii, being in the ocean and learning how to engage with it is just a part of everyday life for many of us," he says. "Surfing, diving, fishing, swimming, paddling… whatever it is, as long as I’m in the water, I couldn’t be happier."
This July, the Hawaii local is off to the sunny shores of Tahiti for the 2023 Te Moana Nui Games.
This competition focuses on traditional Polynesian sports: things like coconut tree climbing, stone lifting, and foot races while carrying bundles of supplies -- all activities you'd find in day-to-day ancient Polynesian life. And let us just tell you, the training for this competition is I-N-S-A-N-E. We're talking carrying giant boulders, uh, underwater in addition to his "regular job" as a lifeguard. Y'know, no biggie.
"As I prepare for these competitions, I am constantly physically and mentally ensuring that I have put in the necessary time, effort and discipline required to be successful," he says. "To me, competition is an opportunity to hone-in on a certain activity or challenge... I’m not necessarily concerned about the other people I am competing against, but rather just being the best version of myself that I can be, and hopefully that’s enough to be victorious in the end."
We've been big fans of Joey since he found us at The Buffalo Big Board Surfing Classic a few years ago... he came to check out our tent, won our trivia contest, and the rest is history!
"Since then I never turned back!" he tells us. "I love that they FLOAT! They look good! They are comfortable! They have a variety of styles… and they are super affordable!"
If that's not enough to make us blush, Joey called Bomber shades "Literally the BEST shades in the business for the type of work I do, along with the shades being stylish and comfortable. I was always really impressed with the flotation ability of the shades especially when dealing with water."
Well, we're really impressed with YOU, Joey. 😘
Join us to cheer on the unbelievable Joey Aloha this July! He's currently in the final countdown (*cue training montage*) leading up to the competition -- and we can't wait to see what this year brings!
You can follow Joey on Instagram at @joeyaloha_ -- and while you're at it, check out the Lahui Foundation, where Joey and his community help raise money on behalf of native Polynesians and underserved populations in Hawaii.

]]>The absolute roots reggae LEGENDS from Steel Pulse wore our shades -- OUR SHADES -- for their incredible shows at two back-to-back mega-parties.
The Cali Vibes Music Fest is a Long Beach staple with a rich and diverse history: three days of reggae, R&B, rap, psych, and more. This year was headlined by surfer and singer-songwriter Jack Johnson alongside the one and only Snoop Dogg (heard of him????).
Steel Pulse took the stage on Friday afternoon -- right at the Golden Hour, we might add 😍 -- with our shades on proud display. And then every single team member at Bomber HQ collectively fainted.
After that, Steel Pulse headed to Honolulu, Hawaii to absolutely melt the sold-out Blaisdell Arena with the music group Common Kings and a selection of special guests. They rocked their Bomber faves while shredding on guitar for a sold-out arena. (And then everyone at Bomber HQ fainted again.)
We've been in the game for almost 30 years now (wow!) but it still blows our minds anytime we see Someone Famous™️ wearing our shades. We're so happy to have you all along for the ride, and Steel Pulse, if you see this -- HELLO AND MAHALO!!! Our house is "Your House" if you ever feel like swinging by :)
Check out our reel on Instagram here. (Yes, it's a fan video, and we know we're ~those fans~, and we're still freaking out.)
]]>If you don't know Jordan T, what rock have you been living under? (We're kidding.) Jordan T is an incredible reggae musician and performer, as well as a longtime friend of the Bomber family. His music--both as a solo artist and as the singer and guitarist for bands Maoli and Katchafire--reaches across the world. He has more than 50,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and has rocked out with crowds at reggae festivals worldwide, from Norway's Riddu Riddu Festival to Germany's SummerJam--and of course, the California Roots Festival right here in our backyard!
We've been DYING to partner with Jordan ever since we met -- he started wearing our sunnies at events in Hawaii and his Bomber shades have become a trademark part of his style in music videos and media appearances! And now, we're delighted to reveal the official Jordan T Series.
It takes an awful lot for us to name a collection after someone: for example, our MANA Series is named for our late friend and famous Hawaiian photographer, Jeff "Mana" Walthall. And our ALOHA Series is, of course, named for the welcoming and generous spirit of the Hawaiian islands.
The Jordan T Series sums up what Jordan--and Bomber--is all about. Designed in tandem with his friend and tattoo artist, Jordan's frame style is based on traditional Polynesian and Hawaiian islander tattoo designs. The individual facets of the design hold significant meaning to Jordan T and his artist friends.
You'll find representations of five key ideals nearest and dearest to Jordan's heart: Lineage, Strength, Family, Protection, and Home. For Jordan, the design represents the protection he carries with him everywhere he goes, knowing his family and his ancestors are always there to protect and support him, no matter how far from home his travels may take him.
Designed specifically for black frames, the Jordan T Series is now available for IRIE, GOMER, TIGER, and MEGA in Smoke, Blue Mirror, and Green Mirror. We've been working hard at this collection for several months and we're so excited to finally make it available to YOU, our amazing Bomber family!
Like all our specialty collections, we expect the first run of the Jordan T Series sunglasses to sell out FAST, so make sure you grab your favorites before they're gone. ]]>Possibly the most important factor in a good pair of sunglasses is the lenses. That's why sunglasses lenses have so many options for colors, lens coatings, and more -- the perfect combination of features creates the perfect pair of sunglasses for you!
Today we're taking a closer look at lenses: specifically, lens colors. Did you know there's more to sunglasses colors than just style? It's true -- the color of a lens actually changes things like functionality. Pair that with protective lens coatings and you've got an impressive catalog of sunglasses with different perks and benefits.
So let's get started! Here's how to find the perfect lens color for your sunglasses.
Let's start by talking about functionality. Believe it or not, the shade of your sunglasses lenses makes an impact on how your sunglasses work for you. Have you ever noticed that you see "better" when you're wearing one pair of shades over another? Or, have you ever taken your favorite pair of sunnies somewhere new -- boating or skiing, for example -- only to feel like your vision's gone all foggy and dark? The secret here could be the lens color: Certain tints lend themselves better to certain environments.
Some examples of lens colors that add functionality to your sunglasses are:

Finally, when it comes to sunglasses lens colors, the most important feature is how much YOU like them. The fun part of Bomber Eyewear is that we have so many wild colors to choose from, so no matter what your personal style looks like, you'll find a pair of Bombers that suit you. If you're looking for flair, give our Revo Pink or Rose Gold lenses a try. And Gold looks good on everybody -- but don't just take our word for it; shop our Gold styles and see for yourself!
Whatever sunglasses or safety glasses you choose, you know you're in good hands with Bomber Eyewear. The best thing to do is to educate yourself on your options, then choose what makes YOU feel good -- safety glasses or sunglasses, what matters is that you've found a pair of glasses that will work as hard as you do.

Anytime you buy two or more frames, you can get a discount of at least 20% on your order total. It's as easy as a few button clicks!
This is new -- it's not just the CLUTCH that comes with removable side shields. The CLUTCH and BUZZ Bomb are all known for their removable side shields -- in other words, you can rock ANSI Z87+ safety certification when you're on the job, then remove the side shields for a lightweight, fashionable fit outside of work hours. But did you know that we also offer removable side shields as an add-on for the GOMER Bomb? That's right -- you can buy attachable side shields for the GOMER Bomb in Black or Clear for a whopping $5. Yup, just five bucks and you've made your GOMERs fully ANSI Z87+ safety rated.
A lot of people don't realize that Bomber Rx is a thing -- but it totally is!! If you love our style but you're committed to your prescription glasses, the truth is that you're NOT limited to overpriced eye store sunglasses! You can shop Bomber's prescription options at www.BomberRx.com, where you can upload your prescription and choose from some of our most popular frame and lens styles for the ultimate fit for YOU.
*Cue the X-Files theme song* Okay, it's not THAT level of secrecy, but we do offer exclusive eyewear sales to certain people in our audience from time to time. The best way to get access to sales and discounts is to sign up for both our email newsletters and our text message marketing service. Every once in a while, we'll run an SMS-only or email-only sale that you have to be ~in the know~ about to take advantage of. We do the same thing on social media, so make sure you're following us on Instagram @bombereyewear for the latest and greatest details.
This might be our favorite feature we're sharing today: When it comes to customer service, we put our money where our mouth is -- literally! You can ALWAYS talk to a human when it comes to customer service requests. Say you're signed up for our email list and you just got the ~exclusive~ scoop on a sale -- but you've got questions. You can just hit "reply" to that same email and your message will go directly to a member of our customer service team. That means a real live human (*GASP*) will answer your request as soon as possible.
The same goes for our SMS/text message program. If you reply to our text messages right from your phone, a Bomber Eyewear agent will hop on to help you with your questions or comments.
So how 'bout it? Did you learn something new today about your favorite eyewear brand? We're so glad we have you in our community and we can't wait to impress you even more the next time you place an order. So what are you waiting for?! Find your new favorite sunnies and let our stellar service dazzle you 🤩
]]>We're on TV!! Bomber Eyewear had the honor of spectating the 2023 Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational surfing contest at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu. So like, no big deal, but this year's winner -- bada$$ lifeguard Luke Shepardson -- rocked a pair of Bombers (the Pipe bombs) in his TV interviews after winning one of the biggest surfing events in the world.
We LOVE going to The Eddie every year - whenever the waves make it possible for the contest to go on. As many of our team members make the pilgrimage to Hawaii as possible, because there's nothing quite like watching those big personalities take on some of the biggest waves in the world. Named for Eddie Aikau, the legendary surfer and waterman, The Eddie can be called the "Super Bowl of surfing" and only takes place if the waves at Waimea top 20 feet. This competition is one of a kind and absolutely LEGENDARY, and we love taking part of it in any way possible.
A note about Eddie himself: If you haven't heard of him (we'd be shocked), Eddie Aikau was the first lifeguard to take on duty at Waimea Bay and saved more than 500 lives during his career. In addition to his stellar lifeguarding reputation, Eddie was a big-wave surfer who took on some of the largest waves on record in Hawaiian history. In 1977, Eddie even won the Duke Kahanamoku Invitational Surfing Championship, which at the time was the largest surfing competition in the world. Today, Eddie Aikau's legacy is an important part of Hawaiian history and culture, and we love joining the 1.2 million online and in-person spectators of the event each year.
Eddie Surf Competition Invitational 2023 winner, Luke Shepardson, epitomizes the spirit of The Eddie -- a lifeguard himself, Shepardson went down to the beach during his break and casually swept the competition. And then he headed back to finish his shift lifeguarding at Waimea Bay. (You know, no big deal -- we're just totally obsessed with him.)
Oh my goodness, we are so obsessed with this guy. And so honored that he repped our gear on the big screen! Check out the video from KITV 4 ABC, the Hawaiian TV station that had us squealing over our cornflakes when we saw the footage. And if you want to be like Luke (and honestly, who doesn't?) grab a PIPE Bomb or two. Then sit back and watch some of the footage from competition day and Eddies gone by -- seriously, you won't regret taking the time to check out this heart-pumping, one-of-a-kind sports event.
]]>Today, we've collected some of the best features you should look for in sunglasses for snow. We've also made a few frame suggestions from our best-and-brightest catalog, like our best sellers the CLUTCH and the BUZZ Bomb.
There's no reason to sacrifice style and comfort when you're lookin' for safety -- and that's why we've got you covered! Check out Bomber Eyewear's best sunglasses for the snow and be sure to snag 'em while supplies last.
Especially if you're coasting down a mountain at a gajillion miles an hour, side shields are a critical component in the best sunglasses for snow. Styles like the ever-popular BUZZ Bomb and CLUTCH allow for removable side shields, so you can drive in style on the way to the resort, then snap 'em on when you hit the lift. Side shields keep out debris and the worst of the wind, protecting your eyes from impact damage. Our newest style, the MAGNUM, offers all the style and vibe of the BUZZ and CLUTCH along with fuller coverage extending to the forehead and under the eyes with our patented, cozy foam lining. If you're used to a more goggle-like feeling, try our "spoggles," like the sunglasses-style H-Bomb or the safety strap-style BUG Bomb.
Okay, let's do some math. White snow + bright light = ouch. So white snow - bright light = YAY, right? The best way to reduce that "bright light" stabby-stabby feeling is by blocking the sun's most harmful rays as they bounce off the glittery ice and head your way. Luckily, all Bomber sunglasses block harmful UVA and UVB rays -- but if you're looking for a little more snow blindness protection, your best bet is sunglasses with mirrored lenses. Not only do they look sick as heck, mirrored lenses cause a portion of the sun's rays to bounce away from you without sacrificing visibility. This cuts down on glare, snow blindness, and other risky and harmful snow situations -- and as an added bonus, you're 45% more likely* to get a "Sick sunglasses, brah" from the lift operators.
The best mirrored lenses for snow are usually the "winter colors", like silver, blue, and ice blue. We'll get into that in a sec, but in the meantime, a few of our favorite mirrored lens styles are the MEGA Bomb in Polarized Ice Blue Mirror (for more coverage without added bulk), the AHI Bomb in Polarized Blue Mirror (for wrap-around coverage), and the STRANGE in Silver Mirror (for +15%** to "Sick sunglasses, brah").
*We made that statistic up. Don't sue us, please.
**We made that one up, too.
Another fun fact for you: Glasses with blue or brown lenses improve your visibility in low light and white light -- AKA the changing light conditions you'll find on a ski slope or a snowy day. Why is this? If you just want to go with the "science is neat" explanation, you can skip to the next paragraph. But for you Neil Degrasse Tysons out there, here's the skinny: brown or copper lenses, particularly if they're polarized, add more contrast to your vision. That means your eyes have an easier time picking out the differences in colors, meaning even if the sun is shining right into your peepers, you'll be able to see where the ski slope ends and the "oops, I need a rescue" tree line begins. Meanwhile, gray-tinted lenses with a blue-tinted coating (think any of our polarized or mirror blues) provide extra contrast, reduce glare, and add extra color to your vision, especially in changing light conditions (think ski lift to ski slope, ski slope to ski lodge, ski lodge to why is the ski lodge so dark, oh I should probably take off these sick, brah sunglasses).
Finally, when in doubt, go with polarized lenses. Polarized lenses have some neat science attached to them that reduces glare, improves color contrast, and detail definition. In other words, polarized sunglasses offer your best conditions for turning a rapidly-changing, glare-inducing snowscape into a high-definition dreamscape winter wonderland. When you combine the other features--like gray lens bases with a blue tint, mirrored lens coatings, and side shields to block the worst of the weather, you've got a bada$$ snow glass (ooh, that rhymed) that will keep your eyes safe no matter the slope or the snow. We recommend, oh, something like the MAGNUM Safety in Polarized Ice Blue Mirror, or the back-in-stock CLUTCH or BUZZ in the same color.
Hitting the slopes this snow day season? Let us know where your Bombers take you on Instagram at @bombereyewear! We can't wait to see your snow pictures, whether they're your sickest stunts, your hippest snowpeople, or your most impressive (to us, anyway) skiing wipeout "yard sale".
]]>Here are just a few of our best New Year's Resolutions for 2023. Let us know what your resolutions look like on Instagram at @bombereyewear -- and hopefully at least one of them is to buy new sunglasses!
1. Focus on self-care that makes you feel comfortable in your own skin. A lot of self-care New Year's Resolutions focus on products to buy and apps to install -- but the best self-care New Year's Resolution is -- and this is a revolutionary thing we're going to share here -- focused on your self. This carries over into a lot of other categories: Focus on things that make you happy and confident about the person you see in the mirror. This isn't strictly related to weight loss or exercise, but rather investing in clothes that you actually love instead of fast fashion (and polarized sunglasses to top off every outfit). Find a scent you love -- like sandalwood, vanilla, or eucalyptus -- and go on quests to find those scents and bring them home. You don't always need candles or bath bombs to make self-care part of your routine -- you can find fresh flowers or fragrant fruits from your local farmers market to fill the house with great smells while you cook!
2. Schedule your annual eye exam. Be honest -- when was the last time you visited the eye doctor? If it's been more than a year, you're more than due for a new prescription. If you don't wear glasses or contacts, you should still be going to the eye doctor at least once a year. Optometrists are our first line of defense when it comes to harmful eye conditions and diseases, like macular degeneration, vision-related diabetes symptoms, glaucoma, and even high blood pressure. While you're at it, schedule all those annual or semi-yearly appointments you've been putting off: dental cleanings, your yearly physical, and a dermatologist checkup.
3. Replace, restore, or recycle your overused items. This is another great New Year's Resolution you can use all year long. In the spirit of spring cleaning and Marie Kondo, take some time this New Year to identify the items you've been using for too long -- broken sunglasses, ripped pants, that bookshelf that looks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Then, choose whether you want to replace, restore, or recycle them. This is a fun New Year's Resolution for adults because it gives you the opportunity to learn a new craft or skill. Shredded jeans? Learn how to sew or apply fun, unique patches! Sad, busted bookshelf? Whip out your Dad's power tools and go to town. Sometimes, however, things just need replaced: If you're due for, oh, we don't know, say sunglasses, you know where to go -- check out our Best Sellers and Clearance items for ideas!
4. Spend more quality time with your family and friends. And for the love of lenses, this doesn't mean a "family movie night" where you throw something on TV and then everyone stares at their phones. Take time to be present and mindful in your time with your loved ones, especially people you haven't seen in a while. This doesn't have to cost money, either -- you can hit the beach or hit the highway with a home-packed picnic basket (and your favorite pair of sunglasses, of course) for a cheap adventure. Or, set a low dollar amount -- like five or ten bucks -- and see what you can buy, find, eat, or drink for that amount in a part of your town you've never explored. The point is to be present with your loved ones -- so no phones except for GPS!
5. Send handwritten letters or cards every month. There's nothing quite like the rush of joy you get finding a birthday card in the mail -- what if you could give people that feeling year-round? A great New Year's Resolution for families and friends is to send handwritten letters and cards. Extra points if you make the cards yourself -- so what if the dinosaur you were trying to draw looks more like a lumpy bear? Your loved ones will love that lumpy bear just as much as you love them.
6. Quit smoking. Yeah, yeah, we see this one on every New Year's Resolution list, but we're including it for a reason you might not expect -- your vision. Did you know that smoking increases your risk for cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, dry eye syndrome, and macular degeneration? No, we're not making that up. Smoking can literally cause you to go blind. So, uh, if you haven't kicked that yet -- 2023 is a great time to make it happen!
7. Create a mindful budget. Here's a familiar New Year's Resolution with a twist! There are a ton of blogs and companies that will tell you to create a new budget and then offer you a bunch of budgeting tools that either cost oodles of money or are completely unrealistic for today's cost of living. Instead of ascribing to a lofty budget that you'll blow out immediately, take the time to look at the money you're actually spending, set reasonable spending goals that actually match your lifestyle, and keep track of your spending with pen and paper. The act of writing down your spending instead of marking categories in an app makes your spending more real. And our trick for a mindful budget? We keep room in our monthly and quarterly budgets for "splurge" things that we don't need but just really, really want. That way, if you slip up one week and spend too much money on a dinner with friends, you're not tempted to say "screw it" and destroy your budget for the month. Ya get it?
8. Plan a vacation for the end of 2023. In the spirit of mindful budgeting and self-care, combine these resolutions into one Mega Awesome New Year's Resolution and set your sights on a winter vacation. (Pro tip: The US winter is a great time to visit places like Hawaii, Mexico, and the Bahamas because you get to shed the snow for sand, waves, and warm weather.) Setting this goal for the end of the year allows you to save up for it, plan effectively, and do your research. For things like cruises or all-inclusive resorts, you can also set up a payment plan at the beginning of the year so you have a lower monthly payment to add to your bills -- instead of needing to dump a bunch of money all at once!
9. Commit to healthier sleep. This can be folded into a larger self-care New Year's Resolution or be a goal on its own. Poor sleep is linked to so many more health issues than we realize, from high blood pressure to dry eye to depression heart disease to dementia. Getting enough sleep can even improve your brain performance -- but we've all had enough hangovers and late nights to know how hard it is to tie your shoes after a night of poor sleep, let alone make critical business decisions.
10. Pick up a new sport or other physical activity. Ahh, exercise -- the top of every New Year's Resolution list and one of the most boring ways to start the New Year. Not that we're jaded or anything, but there's only so many times we can start a new jogging routine without going "uggggh" so loud the neighbors get mad. The trick to setting an actual, effective, and consistent exercise routine is finding a sport, exercise, or other physical activity you actually enjoy. This can be as silly as a dancing game on the Nintendo Switch or as committed as taking rock climbing or surfing classes. Experiment until you find something that sticks and that you enjoy -- don't just fork out a bajillion dollars for a personal trainer you don't actually gel with.
11. Exercise your brain and eyes, not just your body. Along the same lines, here's another resolution that turns boring "exercise more" into something creative. Our brain and eyes need exercise (and aftercare) as much as our muscles do. For those brain wrinkles, cheap, silly -- and FUN -- things like crossword puzzles or sudoku can go a long way to waking up your brain in the morning. And honestly, they're kinda like meditation sometimes, especially when you're tuning out the world and vibing out with a good word search! For the eyes, taking breaks is key. For example, take pit stops on long drives to rest your eyes for a bit. For people who work on computers all day, take a minute or two every hour to look out the window, across the room, or another longer distance to give your eyes a chance to reboot. This helps cut down on dry eye and eye fatigue. Or, invest in a pair of Blue Light Glasses to make computers a little less draining to look at!
12. Keep your eye on the prize. Finally, this New Year's Resolution can look like anything you want it to be -- so long as you're focusing on yourself. Sometimes, New Year's Resolutions can feel too restricting or difficult to complete, so why not work on a goal that's more based on ~vibe~ than numbers. Make time this year to feel good about yourself and the life you want to live, whether this means taking an hour each week to make a gratitude list or simply going on more "dates" with yourself.
So, how 'bout it, Bomber fam? Where will 2023 take you? We hope these New Year's Resolutions will give you a leg up on this changing time. And take it from us -- we've got a lot going on at Bomber HQ, so we know how important it is to take time for self-improvement!

1. American Action Fund for Blind Children and Adults
Originally named the American Brotherhood for the Blind, the American Action Fund for Blind Children and Adults was established in 1919. Since that time, they have provided programs and services to the blind and deafblind mostly without cost and always with an emphasis on Braille. They inspire the fundamental importance of independence, Braille literacy, tactile fluency, and equality for the blind.
2. American Council of the Blind
No one should be alone in their journey through vision loss and blindness. And that idea is what the American Council of the Blind (ACB) is based on. Guided by its members, ACB advocates for equality of people who are blind and low vision, inspires community, and connects people and families with education, resources, and each other to support independence for blind and low vision individuals.
3. Choroideremia Research Foundation
The Choroideremia Research Foundation (CRF) is the largest organization in the world focused on the search for a cure for choroideremia (CHM). Their mission is to raise funds in support of scientific research leading to a treatment or cure of choroideremia, a hereditary retinal-degenerative disease that causes blindness; to educate people affected by the disease; and to inform the public.
The Usher Syndrome Coalition’s mission is to raise awareness and accelerate research for the most common genetic cause of combined deafness and blindness. The Coalition also provides information and support to individuals and families affected by Usher syndrome.
5. One Sight EssilorLuxottica Foundation
The OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation aims to eliminate uncorrected poor vision in a generation by creating sustainable access through an innovative approach to impact philanthropy, partnerships and raising awareness.
EyeCare4Kids™ provides professional eye care to low-income, visually-impaired children and underserved families. This year, they just assisted their 400,000th family -- and are well on the way to breaking records in the future! Designed family-first, this organization offers crucial eyecare services to kids, setting them up for success in education and their future careers.
BVA is the ONLY congressionally chartered Veterans Service Organization created for, consisting of, and led by Visually Impaired Veterans focused on the issues, advocacy, and mentorship vital to all veterans and families coping with sight loss regardless of service connection. In other words, BVA serves as ambassadors and mentors for all veterans and their families coping with sight loss.
8. Fighting Retinoblastoma Childhood Eye Cancer Trust
The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) is a UK charity dedicated to helping people affected by retinoblastoma, a rare form of eye cancer that affects children -- usually under the age of five. While more than 9 out of 10 children with retinoblastoma ultimately beat the disease, the harmful effects can be long-lasting, including vision issues, full or partial blindness, scarring, and the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. CHECT seeks a cure for retinoblastoma as well as education and awareness about the disease and its early warning signs in children.
This giving season, we hope you stock up on all your favorite eye gear -- and make room in your budget to send some holiday spirit to your favorite eye charities!
]]>Every year this wild crew of ours continues to bless and impress. In 2022, as thousands of small businesses like ours around the country have figured out a "new normal" (ugh, will we ever stop using that term?!), we're honored and inspired by the way our community keeps! Showing! Up!
You're our people for a reason, and we're beyond happy to have you here.
This has been a wild year for us for so many reasons -- we brought on a brand new style in the MAGNUM, we (finally!!!) got to see your gorgeous smiling faces at events around the country, and we rolled out new and improved offerings online and in-person that connect the important folks (you) with the best deals and products we can provide as our way of giving thanks.
Each year, we take the time around Thanksgiving to look back at where we've been and set our focus on where we're going: and like we keep saying, we just could not be where we are today without all of you amazing people who've made it possible.
The Bomber Eyewear community is so much more than just some people who like sunglasses. Our community is in the way we keep showing up: At events, to show our support for each other. Online, in supportive comments and "hell yeah"s on social media. And in the store, where your purchases help us keep this rockin' and rollin' train in motion, and allow us to create new and improved moments, products, and programs that keep this incredible community connected.
It's never just been about the sunglasses.
And like we say every year, we just need to throw a huge THANK YOU your way for sticking with us -- month after month, sale after sale, event after event, and year after year.
2022's another one for the history books, and we can't wait to see what we do next.
After all, we're not worried! You know why?
Because we know YOU will be there with us!
Sending you all our love from the Bomber HQ Thanksgiving table,
Tommy, Jamerien, and the whole Bomber team
]]>Whether you're looking for a gift for the veteran in your life or you're shopping for a little extra somethin' for yourself, we've got a roundup of our favorite shades that any service member is sure to love.
We’ve decided to keep it simple for you and break down the best glasses for each military branch. Whether you’re a devil dog or newly enlisted Space Force— we’ve got a pair of frames just for you 😎.
CLUTCH Bombs and the Army have a lot in common: they're built tough, they've gone through a ton of training and innovation, and they look damn good in uniform. Born from more than two decades of research and design, the Bomber CLUTCH safety glasses shatter the boundaries of safety, comfort, and performance. These groundbreaking CLUTCH sunglasses pair clean and modern aesthetics with tough safety features that work as hard as you do.
It should come as no shock that we think Airmen and women would look so good in STRANGE. These frames scream Top Gun! The STRANGE is Bomber's wire-framed aviator, standing out from the crowd with its ultralight, refined design. Pairing silver wire frames with a wide range of colorful statement-focused lenses, the STRANGE is ready for all eyes on you -- in a good way, of course.
If you’re in the Coast Guard, then you need the REGGIE. Cam hinges paired with an ultralight, performance-focused frame combine to create our revolutionary ventilation technology, increasing airflow and preventing fogging in those crucial competition moments. We made these frames especially for people who spend their time in the water. Whether you're leaping waves, rescuing boaters, or just hanging out in the sunshine, the REGGIE Bomb is there with you as the next generation of sport safety sunglasses made as tough as the seas.
Built for the extreme—the Navy would look best in Bomber’s goggle-like frames, the MAGNUM. As our first safety glass designed specifically to comfortably and securely fit over prescription glasses, the MAGNUM is a no-brainer when it comes to choosing on-the-job eye protection. We picked these for the Navy branch because you never know what the ocean might throw at you. Wherever you go, the MAGNUM will keep you safe.
Somebody call in the Bomb Squad, because we've got an explosion of style and safety on the scene. (Oh gosh, we're sorry for that one, Marine Corps.) Similar to the Marine Corps (and those devilish dress blues 😍), the PIPE Bomb is designed for maximum efficiency alongside timeless style. The wide-width frame offers maximum coverage with the wraparound style you'll find on racetracks around the world. Keep up with the competition in this round-meets-square lens style, complete with Bomber Eyewear's patented foam lining for ultimate fit and comfort.
We hope no one was surprised that the BUZZ Bomb belongs to those in the Space Force! These flat-top visor safety sunglasses offer a full-coverage, oversized lens look in a wide range of classic Bomber colors. With the removable side shields attached, the BUZZ Bomb becomes an ANSI Z87+ certified safety lens. Just like Buzz Lightyear — the BUZZ Bombs are out of this world.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We love a good party at Bomber HQ, but we also know how important it is to drink responsibly. Keep your Halloween adventures safe and fun for everyone -- because nothing's spookier than a Halloween night gone wrong!
Inspired By: The MEGA Bomb -- a Bomber Eyewear classic! There isn't as much of a mega controversy over the MEGA Bomb as there is over candy corn, but we can all agree that these floatable polarized sunglasses aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Pro tip: If you shop the MEGA Bomb in Polarized Orange Mirror, you're basically putting candy corn on your face. But, you know, fashionably. Shop the inspiration here!
The Drink: Turn everyone's least favorite Halloween candy into their favorite Halloween shot! Yes, we said what we said. You need a little extra preparation for these, but the result is dangerously delicious. Get your vodka marinade ready the night before and serve these day-of in your favorite spook-themed shot glasses. Bonus points if they're orange. (Meanwhile, Kyle is yelling, "SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS! Everybodyyy!" and throwing candy in the air. You might want to keep these away from him.)

The BOOGIE Bomb is part of our big safety glasses catalog, and these UV light blocking glasses do double-duty as both sunglasses and safety glasses. You can't get spookier than our boo-tiful ghost favorites, and you can't get more classic than the Bomber Eyewear BOOGIE Bomb! Shop the inspiration here!
The Drink: A spin on the classic brunch fave, this time with more glitter! Nothing says "Halloween" like sparkles and the color orange! You can get as creative or as classic with these mimosa alternatives as you like. Just remember -- the more you decorate your glasses and the more edible glitter you throw in, the more festive you get! (And no, Kyle had no idea there was such a thing as "edible glitter" and is now posting about it on his Snap Story.)

Inspired By: The PIPE Bomb. Like this drink's smoky presentation, the PIPE Bomb is known as one of the best smoked lenses sunglasses on the market. You can't go wrong with the PIPE in regular Smoke, Polarized Smoke, or even Silver Mirror sunglasses to add a bit of flair! (P.S. PIPE Bombs are also available as clear or tinted bifocal readers: shop Bifocal Smoke, Bifocal Polarized Smoke, and Bifocal Clear to pick up the whole collection.) Shop the inspiration here!
The Drink: Honestly, we included this one for the name. But fun fact -- it was Ernest Hemingway's favorite drink, so you know it's got to be good! This cocktail is presented with a misty, ghostly coloring -- perfect for impressing your plus one, and for hiding behind when Kyle starts yelling "BOO!" at people for no reason.

Inspired By: The BUZZ Bomb -- duh!!! More than a year after its introduction, the Bomber Eyewear BUZZ Bomb is still one of our most explosive styles ever. (Fun fact: The only style more popular than the BUZZ is the BOOGIE Bomb -- but BOOGIE's lead is growing narrower every day!) We think the BUZZ is just straight-up magical, and that's why it's a great match for a little hocus pocus. These big frame safety glasses were our first sunglasses with side shields -- plus they make good sunglasses for motorcycle riding! (Just stick to riding your bike TO the party and crash on the couch. We won't judge.) Shop the inspiration here!
The Drink: Put a spell on everyone with this must-have cocktail! This cocktail is inspired by bubbling witches' cauldrons, and it packs as much punch (get it?) as any witch's brew. The taste is smooth and smoky, and the gorgeous presentation will leave everyone talking about it. Oh, you wanted to know Kyle's reaction? Sorry, he fell asleep on the couch a while ago.

]]>We're heading into the holiday season, and that means DEALS upon DEALS upon DEALS upon DEALS!
Did we say DEALS enough?
Real talk, though, the best Black Friday deals on sunglasses and safety glasses are coming soon. That's why we're rounding up our favorite ways to save on Bomber Eyewear, including a brand new "Buy Now, Pay Later" payment method through Sezzle!
Read on for a sneak peek at our Black Friday savings, coming soon! This year is going to be bigger than ever, so make sure you're stocking up on rewards points, locking in those referral credits, and getting ready for the best holiday deals on sunglasses coming your way this Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Bomber Eyewear is teaming up with the best "Buy Now, Pay Later" deals vendor on the world wide web! We're delighted to introduce our partnership with Sezzle, a service that allows you to split your order of $35 or more into 4 equal, interest-free payments over 6 weeks. There's no credit check required, just an active credit card or debit card, your phone number, and your email address!
You'll see those nifty "Four equal payments of $XX.XX" under our product listings on the website. Add your favorite products to your cart and head over to checkout like you would normally. You'll see Sezzle as a new option in your payment methods. If you already have a Sezzle account, you're solid! You can check out with a "Buy Now, Pay Later" payment already.
If you don't have a Sezzle account, applying is easy. When prompted at checkout, simply provide your email address, your phone number, and an active credit card or debit card (prepaid gift cards won't work). Sezzle will run an instant application process (without a credit check, so no ding to your credit score!). If you're approved, all you need to do is make your first 25% down payment on your card when you check out. The other 3 payments will be pulled automatically every 2 weeks until you've paid off your order in full.
(For anyone who's as bad at math as we are, that's a total of 4 equal payments over 6 weeks. We counted on our toes.)
The best part? There's no delay on shipping -- so when you're shopping for the best Black Friday gifts for your family, you can stock up on a full cart, have it delivered in time for the holidays, and take your time paying for the rest of your order on a timeline that works for you.
Sezzle also offers flexible options like larger down payments, a free rescheduling of your future payment date, and no fees or interest when you make your remaining payments on time. If you have questions about Sezzle or the "Buy Now, Pay Later" payment system, give us a yell at contact@bombereyewear.com or visit Sezzle's FAQ for more info.

]]>One eye disease we won't joke around about is called macular degeneration. Someone with macular degeneration suffers a loss of vision in the center of the retina. Under some circumstances, it can also cause a leaky blood vessel to grow underneath the retina. (Um, gross?)
Most of the time, macular degeneration occurs in people over the age of 55, but it can also affect people who work in dangerous or high-risk environments. No matter your age or space in the workforce, it’s smart to learn about the symptoms of macular generation and how to avoid it!
There are two types of macular degeneration: wet and dry. Most forms of macular degeneration are referred to as "age-related macular degeneration", so you'll often hear the term AMD referring to all forms of macular degeneration. Let's talk about wet and dry AMD:
Dry macular degeneration (Dry AMD) is the most common AMD that people have. Dry AMD occurs when parts of the macula get thinner with age and tiny clumps of protein start to grow.
Wet macular degeneration (Wet AMD) is less common but far more serious. Wet AMD is generally caused by abnormal blood vessels that leak fluid or blood into the retina responsible for central vision. You can lose your vision faster with Wet AMD, and this form of AMD is more likely to occur in people with dangerous jobs or people who do not wear necessary eye coverings.
Macular degeneration symptoms change from person to person, but the most common are these:
Many people don’t realize they have AMD until their vision starts to become blurry. And in severe cases, you may need surgery or medications to fix this -- yikes! In all cases, consult with your optometrist before taking any steps. The best thing you can do to prevent macular degeneration is to schedule regular visits with your optometrist. Like all eye disorders and diseases, early detection is key to treatment.
In the meantime, specialized glasses may help maximize your vision, while sunglasses and safety glasses help protect the eyes from the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays and blue light -- AKA, the spooky Halloween monsters that can increase the risk of AMD.
You should know by now that We Are Not Doctors™, and you should always defer to the advice of your optometrist over the advice of your favorite sunglasses brand. That being said, here are a few sunglasses to prevent macular degeneration or help people with AMD preserve their vision as long as possible.
Bifocal glasses can help improve distance and near vision as the lenses are split horizontally into different sections. At Bomber Eyewear, we offer a line of bifocal safety glasses that offer this benefit alongside ANSI Z87+ safety protection -- a double whammy for protecting and preserving your vision!
Many people have trouble adjusting to dim lighting after being in bright light. They may also experience reduced contrast sensitivity, which means it is more difficult to recognize textures or contrasts. Yellow tinted glasses may help increase contrast and ease vision problems for people with early AMD.
These glasses have a high level of magnification and a built-in prism which allows both eyes to work together to improve vision. Ask your optometrist for recommendations, since high powered lenses are typically only for prescription glasses!
Bioptic telescope glasses help to improve distance vision. On the flip side, magnifying glasses magnify objects close to the eyes, so they are only suitable for improving near vision. These are more prescription-specific lens styles to ask your eye doctor about.
Macular degeneration may make the eyes more sensitive to light, and glare from bright light may cause additional vision problems. Choosing glasses with an anti-reflective coating can help reduce glare and make things easier for people already suffering from AMD.
People with AMD -- and, y'know, people in general!! -- need to protect their eyes by looking for sunglasses that block 99–100% of UVA and UVB rays. The BUZZ Bombs block out 100% UVA and UVB! (And pro tip, so do all of our sunglasses.)
While eye diseases can sound scary, there are actually a lot of ways to catch early-on symptoms and help combat the spookiness of it all. Be sure to protect your eyes with Bomber Eyewear sunglasses for macular degeneration all year long!

Let's start with a cause near and dear to our hearts. We've talked about Surfers Healing up, down, and sideways, and we can't sing the praises of this organization enough. In June and July, Bomber Eyewear team members had the (stunning, incredible, life-changing, stupendous) opportunity to participate in Surfers Healing events in Dana Point and La Jolla, California.
During these events, we got to see the wonder on kids' and their family members' faces as they hit the waves for the first time, learning tandem surfing in the suspended gravity of the ocean waves. And seriously, when we tell you this stuff was transformative, you better believe it. We haven't stopped crying since June.
To learn more about Surfers Healing and their incredible work with kids with autism, check out our previous blog here. Or, jump straight to their website (and their donation page!) at surfershealing.org.
Bomber Eyewear hit the waves as sponsors and participants in the 5th Annual Hawaii State Law Enforcement Surfing Classic. On July 30th and 31st, we headed for the beach with first responders and their families for a one-of-a-kind surfing competition in Waikiki! Since its inception in 2016, the event has always benefited the Special Olympics Hawaii, and has raised more than $20,000 for the organization to date. Not only did we jump in for a sponsorship, but Team Bomber ended up taking first place in the Classic!
Event organizer Scotti Namuo said, "Thanks for the love and kindness! All the police, firefighters, and watermen were so happy and grateful for your help. Thanks so much for everything you do for us!"
We couldn't be happier to help, Scotti! And right back atcha -- thank you to the Surfing Classic and all of its organizers for creating an event like this!
This kid-focused event is a boogie-boarding contest for keiki of all ages. The grown-ups get to participate, too, but the prizes go to the groms and grommettes! We had a ton of fun showing our support at this event, which brings together families from all over the Hawaiian islands for a day of competition, great waves, great food, and greater company.
Most recently, we partnered with our friends at Operation Surf in support of their August events. This August, veterans and their spouses had the unique opportunity to take relaxation-focused surfing retreats with Operation Surf. These active duty Special Operating Forces members and their spouses enjoy R&R and beautiful waves during a specialty weeklong program.
"These individuals are the most elite in the military and we are so honored to be able to serve them," writes Madison Kudsk, Development and Outreach Manager at Operation Surf. "Our goal is to provide the best surfing experience for our participants. Each year we focus on partnering with the greater community... through their support, we're able to offer a life-changing surfing program."
We love working with Operation Surf, so it's no surprise we keep finding ourselves back on our boards beside this incredible team! We'll keep you updated with new Operation Surf events and campaigns coming soon.
Well you'll just have to stay tuned to find out! We're always looking for new ways to give back to the community, so if you or your loved ones have a cause near and dear to your heart, we'd love to hear about it!
Reach out to our team at contact@bombereyewear.com to learn more about our charity partnerships, event sponsorships, gear donations, and more. We want to hear from YOU to hear new ways we can party it up with the community we love so very, very much!
And don't forget: Shopping Bomber is the BEST way to help out our charity partners. Whether we're donating a portion of our proceeds or shipping big ol' boxes of your favorite gear to our favorite nonprofits, your purchases help us make our partners' dreams come true.
Thanks for being such an incredible community! We wouldn't be who we are without each and every one of you. :)
Mahalo!
]]>Of course, the best way to really protect your beautiful eyes are to wear protection. If you’re lounging out in the sun, be sure to wear sunglasses such as the BUZZ Bombs! Or if you’re working in a construction zone, make sure you have ANSI Z87+ Certified TIGER bombs to keep those eyeballs in tip-top shape!
Now let’s get into some of the most common eye issues like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism that can occur. Please note: We are not medical professionals! Always trust your optometrist over what your favorite eyewear brand says on the internet.
Astigmatism is a common, but generally treatable issue in the eye that cause blurred distance and near vision. Astigmatism occurs when either the front of the eye (cornea) or the lens inside the eye has mismatched curves. This causes blurred vision at all distances, and is especially common when you're driving at night -- things like traffic lights and street lights get a haze or "halo" around them, which can be distracting and dangerous for drivers. Astigmatism is often present at birth and may occur in combination with nearsightedness or farsightedness.
Symptoms include:
The best way to prevent astigmatism or keep it from getting worse is by making regular eye exam appointments with your optometrist.
Nearsightedness is a common vision condition in which you can see objects near to you clearly, but objects farther away are blurry. It occurs when the shape of your eye causes light rays to bend incorrectly, focusing on images in front of your retina instead of on your retina.
Symptoms include:
The best way to identify and treat near-sightedness is to make regular eye exam appointments with your optometrist. You may need prescription eyeglasses or contacts!
Farsightedness is a common vision condition in which you can see distant objects clearly, but objects nearby may be blurry. Think of it like near-sightedness, but like -- far. (Whoaaaaa...) The degree of your farsightedness influences your focusing ability.
Symptoms include:
The best way to identify, treat, and prevent far-sightedness from getting worse is by making regular eye exam appointments with your optometrist and wearing corrective lenses. The nice thing is that you can get prescription sunglasses as well as regular glasses, and keep your vision at its best, no matter the weather!
Dry eye is one of the most common eye problems. It occurs when your eye doesn’t produce enough or the right kind of tears naturally. And because of this your eyes can become inflamed and even cause pain. Chronic dry eye can even make it uncomfortable to read or use a computer, or lead to longer term issues like macular degeneration.
Symptoms include:
Help dry eye by using artificial tears (eye drops), avoid air blowing into your eyes, take breaks while staring at screens, and use protective eyewear. Most importantly if the issue continues to occur see your optometrists for prescription medicines. A small note: chronic dry eye can also be an early indicator of certain eye cancers, so be sure to keep those regular appointments with your eye doctor!
As we age, the lenses in our eyes can become cloudy. Cataracts may not disturb your vision at first. But as they get worse, it may become hard to do daily activities.
Symptoms include:
Help cataracts by eating a healthy diet, wearing sunglasses while in sunlight, and wearing your corrective lenses or contacts. Most importantly if the issue continues to occur see your optometrists. Interestingly, staying hydrated helps prevent cataracts, too!
Glaucoma is a common eye disease in people over age 40 and a leading cause of blindness in those over age 60. Fluid builds up in the front part of your eye and damages the optic nerve.
Symptoms include:
Yearly eye exams can help protect your eyes from glaucoma. In its early stages, glaucoma may have no symptoms. You may not even know you have it, which is one of the many reasons why annual eye exams are so important. Your eye doctor will check your eyes for signs of glaucoma and recommend treatment -- early detection is key to protecting your vision from the effects of glaucoma!
Make sure you protect your BOMB-worthy eyesight (see what we did there?) by making regular appointments with your optometrists. You can keep your eyes protected with our full range of Safety Eyewear and Floating Sunglasses, or hop over to BomberRX.com to shop prescription lenses in all your favorite Bomber styles!
]]>As we get older, we need to make sure that we take care of ourselves and every part of our bodies—including our eyes.
So, what can you do to preserve your sight throughout the years? The simple answer is to wear protective lenses! Whether it’s a prescription, blue light, safety, or sunglasses—it’s vital that you wear protective frames to preserve your eyesight.
Important note: We are not medical professionals, so please see your doctor if you're struggling with vision issues, no matter how small they seem!
The National Institute on Aging offers the following tips to maintain healthy eyes:
Regular eye exams with your optometrists are also important and help to catch problems before they can develop into something more serious.
Make sure you protect your beautiful eyes by making regular appointments with your optometrists and protecting them with corrective lenses and sunglasses throughout your day.

What is UV light?
UV light is a type of electromagnetic radiation. Unlike visible light, it can’t be seen because it has a shorter wavelength. UV light includes UVC Rays, UVB Rays, UVA Rays, and Blue Light. Different types of lights are reflected from things such as screens and the sun.
Think about how different your vision feels (and how ouchy your eyes get) when you're looking at the sun bouncing off different surfaces: a sandy beach, the chrome of a car, a reflective mirror, or the water in the pool. We've all experienced that "yikes" moment when the sun jumps right into our eyeballs -- that's UV exposure at its finest.
Sunglasses are the BEST way to protect your eyes from UV exposure. That's just science! Over time, your eyes can majorly suffer from too much UV light.
What conditions and/or diseases can be caused by UV exposure?
There are a ton of conditions and/or diseases that can be caused by UV exposure, but some of the most crucial ones include:
How do I protect my eyes from UV exposure?
There are some simple tactics that you can do every day to ensure that you lower your exposure to UV light.
